What is a USGVoIP BCS?

What is VoIP?
VoIP stands for Voice over IP.  In simple terms it converts your voice to digital signal and transports it securely over a network or the Internet.  VoIP telephone systems like USGVoIP Business Communication Systems, use specially designed phones, or converts analog (standard) phones to VoIP.  Then transfers your calls securely to other VoIP systems or converts it back to analog to reach any phone across the globe.


What is SIP?
SIP (or Session Initiation Protocol) is one of many different protocols used for connecting and controlling communication and multimedia sessions.  Most VoIP Service Providers use SIP because of its ability to initiate calls, functions and signaling similar to standard phone lines which can be transported over commonly used Internet protocols.  Although there are other protocols similar to SIP, SIP is becoming the most widely used.


What is the difference between VoIP and SIP?
VoIP is a more general term to describe a communication process and covers a wide variety of protocols and methods of transportation for the process.  While SIP, is as its name implies, is a protocol, a very specific defined form of controlling how the digital signals will connect over a network.

Will I need New Equipment?
In most cases yes, you will need new phones or a converter for your analog phones.  USG is a Full Service Communication Company.  We will analyze your company's communication needs and make a recommendation as to the best system for you.  USG will supply all the equipment necessary.  In most cases, it is included in the cost of service with USG.


Who can I call with a VoIP system?
With USG Business Communication Systems and VoIP Service, you can call any telephone number in the world. Calls to USA, Canada and Mexico are included in the Unlimited Calls Plan. Calls to Other countries have a small per minute fee which varies depending on the country.
